Chapter Ten
Lana walked briskly out of her class, determined to get back to the dorms before Ziggy came back from her morning class. She hadn't spoken to the woman that morning, making an effort to get up before her, dress, and leave before Ziggyâs alarm even had gone off. The night before had been wonderful, filled with passionate sex, snuggling, and quiet conversation, but now that the moment was over, Lana felt awkward and a little embarrassed that she had let herself go that far with the other woman. She had never had an emotionally close relationship with anyone that she had dated, and from what she could gage, Ziggy was an emotionally based person. She didn't know how to handle that or what to say to the other woman, especially after everything had happened between them, and she needed some time to think before moving forward.
"Lana," a voice called from behind her.
Lana turned to see Gracie rushing up behind her. "Hi," she said, mustering a smile.
"Hi," Gracie beamed. "I just wanted to thank you for last night. Sam and I had a wonderful time. How did everything go with Ziggy?"
"What do you mean?" Lana inquired.
"Well, did you tell her how you felt?" Gracie asked, feeling her out with her eyes.
Lana could feel a blush creep to her face as she thought about the night before. "I suppose I did," she finally responded. "Not in so many words, but I think that she got the point."
"What do you mean..." Gracie asked, but Lana could see the lightbulb appear above her head. "Did you...did you sleep with her?" Gracie whispered, a smile crossing her lips. "Lana, I didn't think that you were going to go all in."
"Well, it wasn't the plan," Lana replied, looking at the other woman. "One minute, we were sitting there having a conversation, and the next minute, well..."
"And the next minute you were all over each other, weren't you?" Gracie finished.
"Yeah, I guess I got lost in the moment," Lana replied. "I really shouldn't have been so impulsive."
"Having second thoughts?" Gracie asked, walking alongside her down the hall.
"I don't know," Lana replied. "I guess I've never trusted anyone enough to get serious."
"Well maybe it's time that you started to," Gracie replied. "It couldn't hurt, and who knows, what if Ziggy turns out to be the person that you spend your life with?"
"I don't know if I'm ready to think that far ahead," Lana said. The future seemed a ways away and seeing that the situation with Ziggy was so new, she hadn't really incorporated the other woman into any of her future plans.
"You can't think like that," Gracie told her. "If you are going to get together with someone or date them, then you should be thinking about the future. A lot of people end up in crappy relationships because they hang on to a person that they know that they can't build a future with, or just the opposite, they don't give the right person a shot, and by the time they figure out that, that person was the one, the other person moves on.
